Steven G set to leave Anfield at the end of the season.

The Reds skipper's days at Anfield could be numbered with his contract set to expire in the summer and LA Galaxy keen to sign him.

The Reds skipper has just six months left on his current deal at Anfield, and is already free to talk to overseas clubs about a Bosman move.

And with interest from LA Galaxy, as well as two other MLS sides, Gerrard could announce as soon as this week that his time at Liverpool is about to end.

The Kop star has maintained that he is willing to sign an extension to his current deal, but senior figures at Liverpool are refusing to bow to his demands on wage and the length of the contract.

Which has convinced Gerrard to look elsewhere, and the Los Angeles Galaxy head the race having made sustained and significant moves over the past week to lure him to California.

There is a feeling in some quarters at Anfield that their skipper could leverage foreign interest to push Liverpool into softening their negotiating stance.

But, barring a monumental U-turn, it appears Gerrard is playing out the final few months of his Anfield career.
