BOSS LVG EXPLAINS WHY FALCAO AND JONES DID NOT FEATURE (#MUFC MANAGER CLARIFIES HIS SELECTION AFTER #CFC DRAW)

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal reveals the club’s latest injury problems which led to why both Phil Jones and Radamel Falcao did not make an appearance against Chelsea, Daily Star reports.

They both featured in last weekend’s round of fixtures, but the pair picked up a knock in the build up to the game against Jose Mourinho, ruling them out of the clash.

It was confirmed that Falcao picked up an injury during a training session ahead of the match although Van Gaal played down the extent of the damage.

“He took a kick in training and couldn’t play, but I don’t think it’s too bad.”

United were also without usual centre-back Phil Jones after it was revealed that he has shin splits, causing him to miss the vital clash with the Blues.

The Dutch manager added: “We’ll have to wait and see because it’s not too easy to recover from.”

However, it is hinted that the injured duo could be fit for next week’s Manchester derby with Wayne Rooney likely to return to the starting line-up after serving his three match suspension.
