Man United prepares £100million package to sign Real Madrid star

Manchester United are looking to bring over Real Madrid star Angel di Maria with a package worth £100million, which will include the transfer fee and his salary, Daily Mail reports.

Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal is desperate to sign Di Maria to bolster his squad before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

After an extremely successful pre-season, United succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at home to Swansea in their first competitive game of the campaign.

And Van Gaal has told chief executive Ed Woodward that Di Maria is this summer’s priority, with Man United reportedly offering the Argentine £200,000-a-week for his services.

The weekly salary will put him on equal terms with United’s attacking duo of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie, which was more than anything made by other interested parties.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has insisted he is looking to keep the 26-year-old attacker, but with competition for a starting berth extremely fierce at the Santiago Bernabeu, Van Gaal still has the opportunity to convince Di Maria to join his Old Trafford project.

Man United are also keen in signing a centre-back, along with an anchorman to partner Ander Herrera in midfield.
